NC MedAssist traces its roots back to the Mecklenburg Medical Society Alliance, which, with the support of a $55,000 grant from the employees of Presbyterian Hospital, laid the foundation for the organization’s noble cause. Since then, NC MedAssist has grown exponentially, dispelling over $63 million worth of medicines last year alone.

Free Pharmacy Program
Central to NC MedAssist’s mission is its Free Pharmacy Program, which provides vital prescription medications to uninsured North Carolina residents falling at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. This statewide initiative serves as a lifeline for individuals battling chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and asthma, ensuring that financial constraints do not stand in the way of necessary treatment.
“I’m absolutely shocked more people don’t know about this program”, says Markus Alison, Vice President of Animink. Animink has worked with MedAssist to create a custom software solution that helps manage their warehouse inventory, and also directly connects to their point of sale at their physical location. He continues “They have just over 6000 likes on facebook, I feel like this should be in the hundreds of thousands.” Animink also assists other non-profits with Charlotte website design.
To qualify for the program, applicants must meet specific criteria, including residency in North Carolina, lack of health insurance, and income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Mobile Free Pharmacy: Taking Healthcare on the Road
